The main ingredients of education are:
- Programme information
- Educational materials
- Creative ideas to make learning about nutrition fun for all ages
Poor eating habits and their effects on our health
Though we tend to overeat, we fail to supply our cells with vital nutrients. Nutrients power our cells, cells in turn transmit these energies to our tissues, organs and systems. But nutritional habits have been gradually worsening. For instance, we consume less fibre rich foods which deficiency may contribute to diverticulosis, chronic constipation and irritable colon. Other deficiencies or overconsumption of sugar and simple carbohydrates (empty of nutrients high calorie intake) has been associated with overweight, diabetes, liver conditions, hypertension and heart disease, dental caries.
Our taste buds become accustomed to sweet flavours, we tend to develop food addictions leading to intolerances and allergies through overconsumption. Overconsumption – not knowing when and how to stop, failure to recognise the red flag signs causes imbalance. This, combined with a more sedentary lifestyle results in vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Vitamins and minerals are core catalysts of all chemical reactions in our body. When these reactions go wrong our bodies start manifesting illness.
The purpose of the education and counselling is to sustain and promote a healthier, radiant, vibrant ‘you’ in a long sustainable run
The aim is to equip you with sufficient commandment of knowledge and understanding of your own body, and how the food you eat powers and reinforces the body from inside (cells) out (organs and systems). Help to overcome obstacles you may experience to change your nutritional behaviour. Incorporating problem solving techniques in nutritional behaviour for children, adults and elderly, since each age group has slightly different nutritional requirements.
The education is delivered in a form of lessons, ateliers, lectures, consultations over a specified period of time with a set goal in sight. We gladly send you a sample plan if you are contemplating to embark upon this educational challenge. The aim of the education is to become a mindful eater, and it most certainly will not only benefit you but your loved ones too. As part of Nutritional Counselling we offer Meal Planning and work alongside other practices if need be such as such as phycologist, etc. depending on the individual case.
